About us

The Port of Tyne is a major deep-sea port located in North East England and connected to five continents across the globe.

On the brink of a new era and at the leading edge of renewable energy technology, it is a vital hub for trade and industry and has been at the centre of delivering economic growth in the UK for centuries.

The Port is ideally placed to become a major hub for the manufacture and maintenance of turbines and to service the supply chain that will grow from it. Its location also makes it a perfect stop for offshore vessels looking for a safe haven port.

Already one of the largest handlers of wood-pellet for renewable power generation, the Port’s asset base and multimodal connectivity equip it to meet the needs of major manufacturers. The offshore industry will benefit immediately from the mature logistics infrastructure in and around the Port of Tyne. With container, RoRo, breakbulk, ferry, bulk, road and rail connectivity, it offers a superb environment for development.

Major land areas are available at the Port, and with an existing healthy manufacturing base in the wider North East region, the Port also offers all the relevant engineering and handling skills.

Advanced knowledge networks, research institutes and centres of excellence for the testing and commercialisation of renewable technology are all based near the Port, resources of real benefit to companies locating in the area.
